Sudan's Ambassador to Egypt leaves Cairo

The Sudanese ambassador in Egypt, Abdelmahmood Abdel Halim, left Cairo on Thursday evening for Khartoum after the Sudanese Foreign Minister's decision to call him for "consultation".

A shipping source at Cairo International Airport said in a press statement that "the Sudanese ambassador left Egypt Air flight to Khartoum and waited in the VIP lounge until he boarded the plane."

"The ambassador is scheduled to return next Tuesday on the same flight from Khartoum, according to his travel notification," the source said, without giving further details.

On Thursday evening, Sudan announced the recall of its ambassador to Egypt for "further consultation," while Cairo said it was "assessing the situation to take appropriate action."

On the other hand, the Sudan, which used to submit a UN complaint annually about the Halaib and Shalatin triangle, took one action, pointing out that it did not recognize the Egyptian-Saudi border demarcation agreement, referring to its violation of Sudan's right to the border triangle, .
