Zimbabwe's ruling party has demanded President Robert Mugabe resign from the party, local media reports said.
Reports said many party structures also demanded the resignation of Mugabe's wife Grace.
Mr Mugabe has appeared in public for the first time since the military took control of the country last Wednesday at a graduation ceremony at Harare University.
After his takeover, Mugabe, 93, was placed under house arrest.
However, the military has not determined the fate of Mugabe's post as president so far, nor has he announced his removal from power.
The army said on Friday it was "talking" to him, saying he was targeting "criminals" around the president. The army accused the targeted people of responsibility for the suffering of the Zimbabwean people.
