Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, owner of Kingdom Holding Company, is among detainees under investigation by a new anti-corruption committee, a senior Saudi official told Reuters on Sunday.
The former official, Ibrahim al-Assaf, was also being held and under investigation, the official said on condition of anonymity. Neither man could be reached for comment.
Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud announced late Saturday the formation of a new anti-corruption committee headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Al-Arabiya television said the commission had ordered the arrest of 11 emir, four current ministers and dozens of former ministers.
