Chinese films were considered crowd favorites in the foreign Film entertainment scene especially with themes leaning toward romcom, action and supernatural even before KPOP domination here in the Philippines. Filipino audience looked forward to watching films that star Jackie Chan, Samo Hung, Yuen Biao, Cynthia Luster, and Jet Li amongst the many Chinese superstars. Another instance was during the height of the Mexican telenovelas in the country in the early 1990s, Chinese series Meteor Garden starring F4 was such a big hit on television.
