5 Cool Journals to Grab

We’re winding down what’s been a tumultuous 2016. Now it’s time to grab a new Journal and get your head around 2017.

Journaling is a fun way to keep track of time and memories, and if you ever need to produce an alibi…Just sayin’.

Luckily we’ve been keeping our eyes open, scanning trustworthy sources for interesting journals. Here, five we think you or she will appreciate.

1. Scratch Map Adventure Journal

This 68-page journal comes with eight of the popular Scratch Maps and more than 300 suggestions of activities you might want to add to your bucket list. It puts forward what it calls “must-do” adventures around the world, and you can scratch off the foil from that area of the map when you’ve completed it.

The experiences it recommends fall into four categories: nature, culture, activity and cuisine. Wind-surfing in the Canary Islands? Check. Scaling impressive mountains? Yup.

Now you’ll never be able to say, “I’m bored, there’s nothing to do.”

2. Personalizable Leather Journal

Whether you’re an artist or a wordsmith, you’ll be able to save your work in this stylish journalby Badger and Chirp. The journals are made to order, and in addition to the classic leather cover and tie for fastening, the acid-free paper pages are tied together with sturdy Irish linen thread. You’ll have a total of 160 pages of archival-quality paper so you can commit your musings to posterity.

3. Wreck This Journal

If you’re anything like us, you may have trouble starting a journal, especially if it’s a fancy one. There’s a lot of pressure to make each entry truly noteworthy. Relax: We’ve got you. Or should we say the Wreck This Journal has got you. Silly, fun prompts (the MoMA website labels them “subversive,” so be warned!) help you keep on track journaling and actually encourage you to make a mess. But perhaps it’s better to tell people it’s simply your “creative expression” rather than “a mess.”

4. Home Brew Journal

The fun part of home-brewing (well, apart from drinking the beer) is the trial and error of experimenting. Tinkering with technique or ingredients can make subtle changes in flavor — or sometimes ruin a batch. The home Brew Journal gives you an easy way to keep track of your recipes and any adjustments you make, so you can go back after tasting time and see what worked and what didn’t.

The journal has 160 pages and is dotted with infographics, useful tables and charts, and log pages that are easy to consult. It beats hand-scribbled, dog-eared notes with beer glass rings….

5. Dailygreatness Journal

“How we start our days determines how we spend our days. How we spend each day determines our future.” So say the wise people at the Dailygreatness Journal. The notebook helps you stick to your goals as well as plan ahead, and guided pages add motivation. Regular weekly and quarterly check-ins help keep you honest, too. With 464 full-color pages on premium paper stock and two silk ribbons to mark your place, this is a book you’ll enjoy writing in.
