The former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, and the G5 governors have said they are pleased with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring support for him.
Samuel Ortom, who spoke at an event organized by the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, disclosed that the G5 members are proud of Bola Tinubu and that the aim of the G5 was that a president from the southern extraction should emerge in the just concluded presidential elections.

Recall that the G5 governors are all members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who refused to support Atiku Abubakar, as their request was for a southern president. They include Nyesom Wike, Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, former governor of Enugu; Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo; and Okezie Ikpeazu, former governor of Abia.
Ortom, speaking at the event and supported by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, said:
"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu We are very proud of you, and we are happy that you made it. The aim of the G5 governors was that a southern president should emerge after the northern president.
"For us, God answered our prayers by making Tinubu president.
"It is God that gave Tinubu, and we must all support him. The former administration took Nigeria from top to bottom.
"It is not an easy task for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come in; we have to be patient and prayerful to ensure that he succeeds." Ortom said
Speaking on the role of the FCT Minister in Tinubu's led administration, he said:
"It is not easy to bring things from bottom to top.
"Nigeria was taken back 50 years; president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with the likes of Nyesom Wike, by the grace of God, and with all of us supporting the administration, we shall get to that level."
