The former People's Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain expressed his commendation on X, formerly known as Twitter, lauding the president's decision regarding federal universities in the country.
"It is gratifying that the FGN has reversed its demand for 40% IGR from universities. It is ab initio totally inconceivable that grossly underfunded universities would be expected to dole out 40% of their IGR to the FGN, Mr. Obi tweeted.
Previously, federal institutions affiliated with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) went on strike due to the federal government's request for forty percent (40%) of their internally generated revenue. However, the government has since rescinded this decision, prompting the striking lecturers to return to classes.
