Peter Obi Reacts, Condemns The Demolition Of Houses In Nigeria.

The former governor of Anambara State and the presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party in the just concluded 2023 presidential elections, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, has condemned in strong terms the demolition of houses in parts of Lagos and Abuja.

Mr. Obi, reacting to the recent demolitions experienced in parts of Lagos, stated that he is unhappy with the demolitions going on in the country, adding that what a responsive government should have done given the current hardship in the country is to come up with measures to alleviate the poverty in the nation.

"It’s with complete despondency and unhappiness that I have followed the ongoing demolitions of properties across the country, especially knowing the extra hardship such acts have been heaping on hapless citizens who are already battling with multi-dimensional poverty.

"What a responsive government should be doing under the current harsh economic conditions in the country is to come up with measures aimed at alleviating the people's hardships and to carry out measures that will take more people out of poverty," Mr. Obi tweeted.

Speaking further, he appealed to the government to consider the state of Nigerians, humanity, and the current state of hardship in the nation while enforcing laws.

So far, his tweet has caused pandemonium on social media, as some individuals have criticized his post on X, stating that the law should be enforced despite the emotions of others.

Some other Nigerians have also supported his stand on the issue, adding that compassion and humanity should be paramount while enforcing laws.
