An evening before February 18, 2023, it is Saturday night and finally Nicaragua has an award with a glittering program in which Sheynnis Palacios, a Nicaraguans woman, gets the title of ‘Miss Universe for 2023 Palacios being the first lady ever from Nicaragua to reach the crown of Miss Universe as she had been part of other international pageants.

At one point of the competition, which witnessed representatives from 84 countries, Palacios remained composed with perfect appearances. It ended in a grand finale by celebrities such as Miss Universe and branded ambassador for L’Oreal, Halima Aden for a panel of judges from various countries all over the nation.
Then, in the evening, there were still 20 semi-finalists, and later 10 after the costume. Miss Nepal and Miss Pakistan re-wrote history by becoming the first ones in this competition. The competition continued, resulting in more cutting in rounds of gowns at night.

As expected, she did not let me down, especially in a one-piece dress that was woven with blue accents on white and floral ruffles. The three finalists namely, Palacios, Porsild, and Moray Wilson were from Australia.
However, having made up her mind about choosing a person that she would like to talk about in the future, Palacios decides on Mary Wollstonecraft - a British female thinker and writer from the 18th century. That is, she spoke of breaking such barriers and making it easy for others to follow suit. She remarked that today women have a lot of chances.

Nicaragua wins by default since Palacios is adjudged victorious after fighting against other renowned competitors like Miss Colombia and Miss Puerto Rico to emerge. During this year, Palacios unseats the retiring Miss Universe from the United States, R’Bonney Gilbert, and becomes the 2023 Miss Universe etching his name into the annals of pageantry. Her win not only celebrates her individual achievement but also symbolizes a step forward for Nicaragua and an inspiration for women worldwide.
