सिंहासन खाली करो कि जनता आती है
Vacate the throne, for people are coming.
On June 25, 1975, Jay Prakash Narayan called for "revolution" from the ground of Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. During his call for "complete revolution", JP recited a poem, a famous poem that has become a symbol of people power and Indian democracy. Written by the famous Hindi writer Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, this song titled "Singhasan Khali Karo ki janata aati hai" is a reminder that in a democracy, the greatest power belongs to the people, to the people.
It is the day after this call that Ms. Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency, ushering in a period of widespread lawlessness and the abolition of law.
25 जून 1975 को जय प्रकाश नारायण ने दिल्ली के रामलीला मैदान के मैदान से "क्रांति" का आह्वान किया। "पूर्ण क्रांति" के अपने आह्वान के दौरान, जेपी ने एक कविता का पाठ किया, एक प्रसिद्ध कविता जो जनशक्ति और भारतीय लोकतंत्र का प्रतीक बन गई है।

इस आह्वान के एक दिन बाद ही सुश्री इंदिरा गांधी ने आपातकाल की घोषणा की, व्यापक अराजकता और कानून के उन्मूलन की अवधि की शुरुआत हुई।

Centuries’ cold & extinguished fire has ignited,
Wearing a crown of gold, the soil is swaggering,
Give way, listen to the stridor sound of chariots,
Vacate the throne, for people are coming.
Public? Yes, innocent idols of clay,
Those who bear weary of winter snow,
When snakes are sucking each body part,
They also remain silent and pain never shows.
Public? Yes, the same oath of the long-big tongue,
“Public indeed bears great desolation.”
“It’s all right, but what’s the public opinion on this?”
” What public has to say on this esoteric question?
Believe, the public to be emotionless flowers,
To decorate plates anytime when required,
Or to please them like an infant,
All tricks in four toys are confined.
But earthquakes happen, tornadoes do occur,
When the public raises eyebrows and are raging,
Give way, listen to the stridor sound of chariots,
Vacate the throne, for people are coming.
Roars crumble the foundations of palaces,
Crown flies in the air with the power of breathing,
Time doesn’t have the power to stop public ways,
Period turns where they want,
Blackout of years, centuries and millenniums
elapsed, windows of the sky are fuming,
They are none other than people’s invincible dreams,
Rupturing darkness thoracic are overflowing.
The largest democracy in the world has arrived,
Decide the throne for the interest of thirty-three crore people,
Today is the anointment of the public and not the king,
Put the crown on the heads of thirty-three crore people.
O! Fool! Whom you are searching to worship,
In temples, catacombs and royal offerings,
Gods are breaking stones on roads,
See gods in fields, and barns doing farming.
Shovel and plough are ready to be sceptre,
Mousiness with gold is adorning,
Give way, listen to the stridor sound of chariots,
Vacate the throne, for people are coming.
We still see common people,
farmers poor suffering at each stage of their life.
It means we are still away from being a real republic where power resides in the public hands.
Let's pray this republic day to be a better republic nation in the coming future.
