Cilla the Musical Extends Tour and Heads to Rhyl Pavilion

Following phenomenal success up and down the country, Cilla the Musical is thrilled to be extending its 2018 tour dates, opening at Rhyl Pavilion on 21 August 2018.

Continuing with her critically acclaimed portrayal of the nation’s sweetheart is Kara Lily Hayworth as Cilla, who beat thousands of hopefuls in nationwide open auditions for the coveted role. theatre credits include: Annie (Liverpool Empire); The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Arts Theatre); Persephone (The Rosemary Branch Theatre); and Secret Cinema Presents: Moulin Rouge. Concerts credits include The Night of 1000 Stars and Songs of Daniel & Laura Curtis (both Royal Albert Hall). Film credits include Bad Day At The Office (Cannes Film Festival) and The Huntsman: Winter’s War (Universal). TV credits include: Will (TNT Productions) and Britain’s Got Talent (ITV) with her band Zyrah Rose.

The show, written by BAFTA® award-winning Jeff Pope, has been met with Five Star reviews and standing ovations up and down the country. It has also been nominated for Best New Musical at the What’s On Stage awards. Jeff is an award-winning writer for Film and Television. Film credits include PIERREPOINT: THE LAST HANGMAN (Timothy Spall); ESSEX BOYS (Sean Bean, Tom Wilkinson); and most recently the critically acclaimed PHILOMENA (Judi Dench, Steve Coogan) for which Jeff picked up Golden Globe, BIFA and London Critics Circle nominations and BAFTA and Venice Film Festival wins for Best Adapted Screenplay.

CILLA – THE MUSICAL is the spectacular and heart-warming musical adaptation of the critically acclaimed hit ITV television series by Bafta-Award winner Jeff Pope (The Moorside, Philomena, From The Cradle To The Grave, Mrs Biggs and the acclaimed Little Boy Blue which had ITV audiences glued to their screens). It tells the extraordinary story of the ordinary girl from Liverpool whose teenage dreams of stardom lead her to become one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers of all time.

The story follows the extraordinary life of the ordinary teenage girl from Liverpool, Priscilla White, and her rocky, yet incredible, rise to fame. By the age of just 25, she was recognized as international singing star Cilla Black. By the age of 30, she had become Britain’s favourite television entertainer headlining series’ of Blind Date, Surprise Surprise and many more.

The musical score will be the ultimate soundtrack to the 60’s including Cilla’s greatest hits Anyone Who Had a Heart, Alfie and Something Tells Me, alongside a backdrop of the legendary “Liverpool Sound” including the Beatles’ Twist and Shout, and American influences like California Dreamin by The Mamas and The Papas and many more.

Cilla the Musical will be at Rhyl this Autumn when the tour arrives at the Pavilion Theatre, Rhyl on Tuesday 21st August running until Saturday 25th August. Tickets are on sale NOW!
