Call for Entries: Ones to Watch

Screen Poducers Australia have opened applications for their Ones To Watch initiative.

Now in its 10th year, the mentoring Program for emerging producers is valued at $20,000.

Over the course of six months, participants are profiled to the industry, matched with a prolific Australian producer from within the SPA membership for 1-on-1 mentoring, granted exclusive access to a series of webinars and given countless industry opportunities to develop their creative slate and business acumen in the lead-up to Screen Forever.

“As we mark 10 years of our Ones To Watch program, taking stock of the phenomenal talent SPA has helped to foster over this time, we have been struck as to how integral the program has been in developing a whole new wave of diverse Australian producers with the tools, networks and know-how to take on the world. The program delivers priceless development opportunities, industry connections and career progression for high-potential individuals,” said SPA CEO Matthew Deaner.

“SPA welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with Screen Australia again in 2022 to help support a valuable internship opportunity which will aid in amplifying the chosen participant’s Ones To Watch experience”.

Since 2013, Ones To Watch program participants have gone on to make their mark domestically and internationally, including Jessica Carrera (2018) who started Dollhouse Pictures alongside a female-driven team including AACTA Award-winning actress Rose Byrne, whose production company recently released the feature film Seriously Red, directed by Gracie Otto. Vonne Patiag (2019) acted as series Co-Writer and Associate Producer on AACTA and LOGIE nominated The Unusual Suspects, and Tsu Shan Chambers (2018) whose first feature film, Unsound, is now streaming on Netflix ANZ.

The Ones To Watch 2022 cohort will have the exciting opportunity to apply for the Ones To Watch Internship and secure placement with a production company anywhere in the world to the value of AU$20,000. It has been a highly sought-after part of the Ones To Watch program since 2013, with previous recipients including Jessica Magro (2021), Ljudan Michaelis-Thorpe (2020) and Rachel Higgins (2019).

Applications close 11.59pm AEST on Monday, 23 September 2022.
