Ronald Franklin was a sportscaster in the United States. From 1987 through 2011, he worked for ESPN. ESPN dismissed him on January 4, 2011, after he made sexist remarks to a coworker. Franklin sued his previous employer, ESPN, for wrongful termination, citing a breach of contract. The parties reached an out-of-court settlement. He mostly worked as a play-by-play commentator for ESPN’s college basketball and football coverage throughout his time there. He co-hosted ESPN College Football Primetime with Mike Gottfried from 1987 through 2005. He joined ESPN2 College Football Primetime with Ed Cunningham in 2006. That team went to ESPN on ABC in 2007 to broadcast primarily Big 12 games. In 2006, he extended his contract with ESPN.
