Cafe Minamdang episode 14 starts at Tae-su’s place as he’s about to blow the entire place up. Han-jun talks to him and reminds him of Eun-hye and how he should repent for his sins if he truly wants to see her free. The manipulation works, considering Han-jun is a master at it, and just as they are about to cuff him, Su-cheol runs in and lands a blow on Tae-su. A fight ensues, but in the end, Han-jun and Jae-hui are able to apprehend Gu Tae-su before he murders everyone inside the house.

The news of the arrest reaches Seung-won, who is infuriated with Auntie Im for letting this happen. She promises to take care of the mess personally and then goes to meet Dong-gi to intimidate him to keep his mouth shut. Dong-gi tells her that he will bring everyone down if Seung-won doesn’t get him out of here and then realises that Im has poisoned him. She gives him the antidote, but not before reminding him that keeping his mouth shut is the only option he has that won’t make him dead.

Soon after, Im and Seung-won go forward with their plan to have the ceremony as soon as possible so that they can start selling their flats as well. On a lighter note, Han-jun catches Su-cheol and Hye-jun’s relationship, but just as Su-cheol is about to confess, Hye-jun flies in, kicks Su-cheol in the face and tells them that she would never date him. Han-jun later mentions that although he knows that Su-cheol is a great guy, he’s still his best friend, and she’s his sister; if they break up, whose side is he supposed to take?

At the precinct, Tae-su refuses to tell the police anything and takes the blame for all and everything. Only when Jae-hui points out Eun-hye and Tae-su’s mother’s similarities does he show some sort of emotion and gets visibly agitated at the thought of them being compared. However, he flips it on Jae-hui and tells her that although he kills sinners, he had to kill Jae-jeong because he refused to prosecute Yeong-seop and instead went looking for the real murderer. Du-jin brings up Tae-su’s mother to get him to talk, but, in the end, it’s all in vain.

Afterwards, in a last-ditch effort to get Jae-hui, Do-won, while trying to comfort her after a hard day, confesses his feelings for her. Jae-hui is clearly taken aback and looks a bit uncomfortable with the confession. Do-won picks up on her discomfort and tries to get back inside when Jae-hui stops him and tells him that she doesn’t share these feelings towards him. Do-won, looking dejected, promises to be a friend and colleague the next time they meet.

Later, Han-jun goes to talk to Jae-jeong in the columbarium and mentions that he finally caught his killer. He starts to confess his feelings for Jae-hui when the lights go out in the room and a draft blow through. Han-jun laughs and tells him not to scare him and that he will confess his feelings when he is allowed to be happy. Jae-hui visits him as well and then goes to Minamdang when she is unable to contact Han-jun.

She gets to know from Hye-jun that Han-jun has gone camping and then goes to find him. Han-jun is pretty bad at camping, and thankfully Jae-hui gets there just in time before he stabs himself in the eye. The two talk about Jae-jeong and how he wanted them to go camping with him, and they spend the day laughing, shopping and having a swell day together.

Unfortunately, Jin-sang and Min-gyeong call and let him know that Seung-won is up to something, and Han-jun asks him to come over to Minamdang by 12. After a rather silly morning, they learn about the Land Hunter Team probably joining the Shovel of Sinmyeong and that all the events will now happen earlier. Han-jun decides to send the necessary proof as an anonymous tip to the station so that they can get everyone arrested faster.

The plan goes off without a hitch, and everyone rushes to arrest the ministers after watching the rapey sex video. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Auntie Im puts up a performance for the job to go through smoothly when Han-jun barges in with Su-cheol (and a lot of fog!) Their entry, as per usual, is dramatic as heck and everyone stops to stare at these two walking in.

On the stage, Han-jun calls out each and every member of this cursed group, and they can do nothing else but look extremely shocked and uncomfortable. The episode ends with Han-jun calling Seung-won out and him glaring at the dramatic shaman with venom in his eyes.

In the epilogue, we see why Seung-won has such a hold on Gu Tae-su.

Cafe Minamdang Episode 14 Review

Still From Cafe Minamdang Episode 14

Episode 14 is the same as the last, although, thankfully, Do-won’s feelings are out in the open, so it’s not as soul-crushing watching him quietly walk behind Jae-hui. Although, again, his character has the least to do in spite of having the most information.

Anyway, with Tae-su’s storyline somewhat over, we move on to the big leagues – the ones which hold the most intrigue and shock – Seung-won has been a wildcard from the beginning, and the little glimpse into his past in the epilogue just piques my interest.

That being said, Cafe Minamdang episode 14 is the same as before. It can’t really have the taut interest that we want to feel for the storyline, but it is charming thanks to its leads. The emotional moments are sweet, and the funny moment, although somewhat rare these days is also quite nicely done.

All in all, it’s an enjoyable, albeit forgettable, episode.

Cafe Minamdang is streaming on Netflix.
