Heartsong (Gönül) is an upcoming Turkish romantic comedy film which is set to be released on Netflix, this week. The offbeat film is written and directed by Soner Caner. The film follows Piroz and Sümbül who fall in love with each other and runs away from their family to live a peaceful and loving life together.

So far, the international content on the streaming platform has been one of the most popular ones, as compared to other titles. Adding to the list, the film looks like a heartfelt comedy that would be interesting to watch.

Heartsong Cast

The cast of the film includes Erkan Kolçak Köstendil, Hazar Ergüçlü, Bülent Emin Yarar, Ali Seçkiner Alici, Selim Bayraktar, Şevval Sam, Asiye Dinçsoy, Nazmi Kırık and Ferit Kaya.

Heartsong Plot/Synopsis

The official synopsis of the film reads, “While serenading a wedding that quickly implodes, a nomadic musician falls for the bride, who runs afoul of her family. Now he has to save her life.” The film follows a tribe of gypsy nomads called Doms, with multiple talents.

Piroz is one of them. He plays the violin and with his brothers, they travel between villages playing music at weddings and funerals. But he falls in love with Sümbül, who is a bride at a wedding they playing at. She also falls for him in an instant. They start singing the exact same song which they thought only they knew.

The wedding ends with a tragic fight between two families. Sümbül is now an unwanted bride who needs to be sacrificed. Piroz then struggles to save her loved one and his tribe becomes his biggest support. He kidnaps and brings Sümbül into their nomad village. However, her family does not accept this situation and they take up arms and go after her.

Piroz is determined to not give up. As Seymen Aga gets close to hunting Piroz and Sümbül down, the tribe moves the whole village to a faraway location, crossing a major river with all their belongings. As he is now sure that his son will live happily with his loved one, Piroz’s father stays behind and fights back the bad guys with his violin and sharp lyrics.
