An Interview with See Inlay Card For Details

See Inlay Card For details is a project created by independent artist Alexander White based in Glasgow, Scotland. The Music explores classic themes such as love and politics in a modern world, albeit it through an unashamedly sentimental and nostalgic lens….

We spoke with Alexander about his inspiration, new music, and what’s to come. Read the full interview below.

When did you start making music? What inspires you to create?
I’ve been performing and writing music since I was a young man. I first picked up my father’s guitar with the intent to learn when I was only 13.

How has living in Glasgow, Scotland influenced your sound/music?
Glasgow has a fairly vibrant and we’ll regarded music scene / community. You’re never far away from a musician that you can exchange ideas with or at least converse about tastes and inspirations…I genuinely believe that Glasgow has an atmosphere that encourages creativity. As pretentious as it may sound, the architecture, people and history acts as some kind of fuel for creativity. Its fair to say that the city has transformed itself throughout the years on many occasions and has perhaps finally managed to rid itself of its sinister reputation for crime and murder. The stories of local people, legends, myths and criminal activity manages to form some kind of playground for creative ideas.

What can you tell us about your latest release ‘Quarantine without you.’ How did the song come about?
The song originally started as an acoustic idea, but it wasn’t until I started laying the track down that I felt it would have benefited from a more retro fuelled synth feel. Many of my songs start with an acoustic chord progression. Usually played through a loop pedal where I can then add a medley and perhaps a bass line using an octave effect that’s built into my unit.

The current pandemic has clearly impacted your topics. How has the situation effected you as an artist?
As an artist I lost out on a lot of live performance work. That being said, it also gave me the time I needed to begin work on my new album ‘tenement turmoil’ which has been in the back burner for years. I’d be lying if I said the quarantine has been damaging to me in anyway. I might go as far as saying that it has been beneficial to me.

What do you have planned musically for the rest of 2020?
For the rest of 2020 I hope to have my full album ‘tenement turmoil’ released. I also hope to have at least 2 music videos released. One of which will be for ‘quarantine without you’

What can fans do to support you?
You can support me by following me on Facebook , Instagram and purchasing my single on Bandcamp.
