BUSD Booster News eBlast – April 3rd 2019

Important News for ALL Boosters:

Please join us THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 2019 for the BSBA monthly meeting at 6:30 pm in the BUSD Board Room (3rd floor Instructional Services), 1900 W Olive, Burbank.

NOTE: There will no longer be a morning meeting on this day.

This booster meeting is now ONLY an evening meeting for information, and a Q&A period to continue the discussion regarding the shift in school site fundraising to BUSD.

Since last month’s meeting, we’ve received many questions and concerns about how the fundraising group transition will take place within BUSD. We will answer your questions, provide an FAQ sheet and discuss guidelines and procedures for raising funds within BUSD.

The BUSD Fundraising Working Committee is currently in the process of finalizing information to provide separate Elementary and Secondary training meetings – to be announced soon!

Here’s what they’ve been working on:

  • Compiling booster questions and finalizing a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) sheet for reference
    • Meeting with school site Officer and Finance Managers for input on procedures for clear and transparent guidelines and reporting
    • Detailing the process to fundraise at the Elementary level
    • Detailing the process to fundraise at the Secondary level
    • Working on detailed BUSD Fundraising Guidelines, Procedures and Compliance documents for all groups
    • Creating a timeline for completion of transition of Boosters to School Site Fundraising Groups

Currently, boosters should continue with regular procedures to plan for next year’s fundraising and program support. This includes finding leaders, planning and budgeting for next year’s goals and finalizing financials for the current year.

Remember – fundraising and school program support will NOT be going away!

The fundraising group transitions goals are:

  • Maintain school site fundraising for programs
  • Shift fundraising oversight and structure from BSBA to BUSD
  • Create a system for school-based fundraising that is easier for principals, staff, and volunteers
  • Create a process that removes liability from volunteers
  • Strengthen accountability and transparency of fundraising goals and outcomes for parents, students, donors, and BUSD staff

NOTE:  Fundraising is not being taken over by PTAs or the Burbank Educational Foundation

Please be sure to attend this very important booster meeting to provide feedback, ideas and solutions as we move forward supporting our students!
