1. BHITARKANIKA WILD LIFE SANCTUARY:

The Sanctuary, famous for crocodiles, was recentlyreceived recognition as Odisha’s first National Park.The sanctuary spread across 672.00 Sq. Km, has a wide variety of flora and fauna to offer. One can always see Leopard, hyena, fishing cat, jungle cat, spotted deer, sambar, wild pig, dolphins, porcupine, and saltwater crocodiles in this mangrove Park. Bhitarkanika, situated in Kendrapara district, is easily accessible from the capital Bhubaneswar. You must visit it at least once in your life.

2. SATKOSIA SANCTUARY:

This sanctuary is the habitat of tigers. It covers an area of around 750 sq. km and is spread across three district of Angul, Nayagarh and Phulbani. Animals such as Tiger, Leopard, wild dog, Indian wolf, striped hyena, sambar, chital, Sloth bear, mouse deer, barking deer, nilgai, wild pig, gaur, elephant, chousingha, gharial, , terrapins, mugger, monitor lizard, chameleon and snakes along with a variety of birds can be seen here.

3. HADGARAH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY:

The special flora and fauna of Hadgarah sanctuary include Sal forest and Leopard, elephant,mugger, wild dog etc. An area of 191.06 sq. km. falls under the sanctuary. It is easily commutable from Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak.

4. NANDANKANAN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY:

This is a small sanctuary plus zoo with an area of only 14.16 sq. km but it holds the record for largest white tiger population than any other zoos of the country. It is closest to Bhubaneswar You can also see a variety of endangered species in the Botanical Garden adjacent to it. The White Tiger Safari, Aquarium, Lion Safari, Aviary, Chimpanzee, Orangutan, Gharial breeding facility, Boating,Toy Train, and Aerial Ropeway are some of main tourist attractor of Nandankanan.

5. SIMILIPAL WILDLIFE SANCTUARY:

This tiger sanctuary in the Mayurbhanj District is easily accessible from Bhubaneswar. You can also see  leopard, Chowsingha, hyena, wolf, sambar, chital, mouse deer, gaur, elephant, giant squirrel, peafowl, hill myna etc. in their natural habitat along with reptiles like monitor lizard, marsh crocodile, etc.Similipal has been added to UNESCO list of Biosphere Reserves in May 2009.

6. GAHIRMATHA MARINE SANCTUARY:

It is Odisha’sonly marine Wildlife Sanctuary situated in Kendrapada. Spread across 1408.0 sq. km. of water body and 27 sq. km. of land, it includes mud flats,reserve forests and sand bars. The place is famous as the nesting and mating beach of Olive Ridley sea turtles during the start of Novembereach year.
