August Hall is a veteran UK musician who is debuting a new solo project in 2023. By day he is a full-time academic. At night the West Wales-based multi-instrumentalist hits the stage. He has spent the majority of his music career playing covers in bands for parties and pubs across South Wales. Then the pandemic happened. As was the case for musicians around the world, the gigs dried up. 

Making the best of the unexpected downtime provided by the numerous lockdowns and quarantines of COVID, August Hall decided to try his hand at songwriting. He took a few online courses and connected virtually with musicians around the world. Now with the help of one of his students, and under the mentorship of producers and songwriters Rob Wells and Jeff Franzel, he has dropped his first single and video.

“Leaving Arizona ” is the brand new single from August Hall, released worldwide via all major streaming services on March 25, 2023. Also making her professional debut is 20 year-old guest vocalist and accounting undergrad, Emma Bucknor. The track is a beautiful and melancholy Americana-tinged relationship post-mortem.

A solo acoustic guitar opens the track. The ensemble expands throughout the first and second verse to include electric piano, drums, bass, and even a little Tijuana brass. On the mic Emma sounds vulnerable yet determined as she delivers a heartbreaking and wistful farewell to Grand Canyon State and the memories it holds.
