5 Tips For A Happier You In 2019

Not Sure What Your Next Big Goal Should Be In 2019? 

Let’s make happiness your number ONE priority.

To help you out, here’s some of the best advice that I wish younger Robbi would have known sooner rather than later.

Read on to learn the best tips to make 2019 great!

1. It’s All About The Balance

Life’s all about the balance: one pizza slice in one hand,and a burger in the other! 
*ok, I’ll stop with the lame jokes now*

On a more serious note here, if I learned something over the years then it’s this: things can’t ever be perfect but that’s okay. Life’s all about the balance.

The first thing I want you to do in 2019 is to wave that little perfectionist in your head goodbye. Set realistic goals – and drop all of the high expectations you have. Let life surprise you.

Trust me when I say, you’ll be much Happier with yourself that way. 

2. Find A Reason To Smile Every Day

Okay, so I’m not saying this only because I’m of my kickass career in dentistry, but girl – don’t shy away from showing the world your smile! Yes, even when you don’t feel like it –there’s a reason to Smile EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I promise.

Knowing how to see the good every day means you’re thankful. And being thankful is the best short cut to well, you’ve guessed it – being happy! 

Now, unfortunately, gratitude isn’t something you’re born with. Think of it more as a skill you have to learn. The more you practice, the better you become at!

Come on, let’s do it together now. What are you grateful for? I’m grateful for my wonderful husband, my puppy and for that beautiful Aussie weather. *more beach time!*

3. Spend More Time In The Real World

You probably don’t expect to hear this from someone you’ve found on Instagram but hey – I’m not gonna lie to you!

Now, don’t get me wrong, social media is a fantastic tool to use. But can I let you in on a secret? The real fun happens offline.*yup*

Take this as a gentle reminder to spend more time in the real world. Go offline for a day. Be around people you love – and do more of the things you enjoy.

Remember, real life isn’t happening on screen. 

4. Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover

Do you judge books by their covers?

You’re going to laugh at me when I tell you this but I’m often judged by my cover. *think a blonde in a bikini on Instagram and you get it* A picture doesn’t necessarily show my values, humour or intelligence. It definitely doesn’t show my university degrees or heart. 

And you know what? I’m much more than that – and so are you and so is everyone else. A picture captures only a single second out of a 24 hour day.

Don’t forget that when you first meet someone, you’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg. But no one knows what’s going on under the surface. 

So be kinder to others. More patient and more forgiving. Read a book with a cover you don’t really like– and I promise you, you’ll be surprised as to what you find inside.

5. Shine YOUR Light To The World 

I always say, if we gave as many compliments as we do on Instagram, the world would be a better place.

You don’t need much to make a difference – you’re already enough as it is.

No idea where to start? Start small. Pay it forward.

Tell someone their hair looks pretty. Smile to people – even if you don’t really know them. Visit your grandma and give her a hug.

In the end, it’s the little things in life that make a big difference.
