Promoting Your Music on the Internet Does Not Mean You Must Be a Professional In Everything (Website Design For Example)

In my first post, I listed 6 things you should try to do when using the internet to promote and market your music. The number 2 item in the list is ’stop trying to be a Professional in a field that is not directly related to what you want to be known for’.  In this case, I am going to use myself as an example. In the cause of trying to promote my music on the internet with very limited resources, I discovered that the only way I could move forward was to try and do a lot of things myself  and being a person who likes to be in total control of my music  related activities, I started learning how to make my own music website. Before then, I had never studied anything relating to website design. Eventually, I found myself spending many months and years learning how to master different aspect of website design which even almost took me away from the music itself. It came to a point that I even started nursing the idea of doing website for a living. But taking a critical look at myself again, I discovered that my real calling is music and not website design. Yes, so I had to make a U turn. I know that the knowledge I have been able to acquire during the course of my learning how to design and manage a basic website has been useful even in promoting my music today, but I wouldn’t recommend that route for any artist who is really trying to promote his or her music on the internet because such a person already has so much at hand to contend with, except the person who  already knows how to do it. Instead, I would rather recommend any of these instant website editors on the net like wix.com, bandzoggle.com or any other one so that such a person can have more time to focus on the music which is what he or she wants to be known for. I also know that using any of these instant website editors has its own pros and cons, but I will still recommend them for any beginner so that even if you want to learn how to design your own website yourself, you can do the learning gradually and become good at it before you may want to attempt to set up your self designed website so that it looks good and professional because many people are going to judge you from the looks of your website page. The last thing I would want to say here is that when ever you want to use these instant website providers, always try to have your own domain name because that will help you in the long run as many of your fans would have gotten used to that domain name.
