Pete Davidson Makes Light Of Suicide Scare On ‘SNL,’ Makes Slight Reference To Ariana Grande

Pete Davidson briefly touched on the suicide scare that worried his fans last month and managed to wrap it around a hilarious bit about the movie, “The Mule.”

Davidson appeared during “Weekend Update” with former “Saturday Night Live” writer John Mulaney. The two joked that Mulaney was trying to show Davidson “that you can have a life in comedy that is not insane. A sober, domestic life.”

To which Davidson responded, “After observing John’s life, I publicly threatened suicide. I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t make that joke. But it’s funny.”

The two proceded to talk about the Clint Eastwood movie for the next few minutes and when the bit was over, Davidson exclaimed, “I didn’t mention her once,” a clear reference to Ariana Grande.

Last month, Davidson posted an alarming message on Instagram before deleting it that left many concerned for his wellbeing.

“I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore,” Davidson wrote. “I’m doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don’t know how much longer i can last. All i’ve ever tried to do was help people. Just remember i told you so.”

A welfare check was performed by the New York Police Department and Davidson was deemed “safe.”

Earlier, Davidson had sort of stood up for Kanye West speaking about mental health, writing, “Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out against mental health. I can’t explain to you enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this. We need people like Kanye. No one should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health. I’m seriously disgusted.”

Pete Davidson spoke out about his mental health in the wake of his breakup with Grande. He talked about the online bullying he had been on the receiving end of and mentioned suicide in that post as well.

“I just want you guys to know. No matter how hard the internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself. I won’t,” Davidson wrote.
