Karan Johar, on Twitter, announced a long term partnership with online video streaming service Netflix.  Johar’s new digital content company, Dharmatic Entertainment, struck a long term deal with Netflix India to produce a range of fiction and non fiction series and movies. 

Karan Johar shared the big news with a tweet including a 38 second video.

Speaking about the partnership, Karan Johar said, “I’m super excited about the projects we already have in development and the limitless possibilities ahead. To create universal stories from India that the world discovers is an incredible and unprecedented opportunity”    

Johar also stated the deal between him and Netflix is a “collaboration of equals” and he is excited about it.

Monika Shergill, Director, International Origins, Netflix said, “We like the ethos, the artistic integrity, the young vibe, the fact that he has always remained relevant and has discovered and nurtured new talent… It blends in with Netflix ethos; it’s a perfect match… It would be interesting to see his take on multi-season, long format storytelling.” 

Karan Johar collaborated with Netflix in 2018 to create the much loved anthology film Lust Stories.  Karan Johar is also involved with two upcoming Netflix originals, Ghost Stories and Guilty.
