The official Hindi remake of Paula Hawkins’ The Girl On The Train started filming in London last weekend, with Parineeti Chopra playing the main character. Now, Kriti Kulhari and Aditi Rao Hydari will join the cast as well. While details about Aditi’s role are not out yet, Kriti Kulhari will essay the role of a British cop, Aaliya Shergill.
To prepare for the role, Kriti Kulhari started kickboxing training, which will help the actress understand the body language of a cop. Speaking about the role, Kirti said, “It’s an interesting character with a unique look, something that I don’t think anyone has sported in Bollywood before. The training will give me the body language of a cop. We had toyed with the idea of a British accent but then Ribhu thought it would divert the focus from my performance. Instead I’m watching documentaries and murder mysteries to understand the job profile and working style of an investigative officer in the UK.” Kirti will fly to London on August 15th and start shooting for her role on the same day.
Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, the yet to be titled film will be an official remake of The Girl On The Train, which was also adapted into a Hollywood movie in 2016. With Parineeti Chopra essaying the role of an alcoholic divorcée, the movie is expected to release in 2020.
