All hail the return of The Hideaways, a wild & loose proto-punk blues band always conjures up an atmosphere of Chuck Berry meets The Ramones with a side order of Blonde On Blond Bob Dylan, as they begin their First Sat of the Month Residency at Charlotte’s Speakeasy in Farmingdale, NY.  For those who wish to attend and are not familiar with Charlotte’s Speakeasy: In keeping with the old-timey Speakeasy tradition, you will need to make a reservation, and you will need to grab the “password of the week” (which is available on the venue's website ) in order to get in. Doors open at 7pm, and it is suggested to come early, (and stay late of course.) The place is small and they only let 125 people in at a time.

Jellybands members have come to redefined what it means to be a cover band. “We’re not a jam band, we’re a jelly band!” has been Jellyband’s motto from their inception. Playing deep tracks from the sixties, mixed with contemporary anthems from the 90’s and beyond their musical cannon is vastly deep. The musical knowledge amassed by its members is extraordinary, and complement a female vocalist par excellence (Annie Mac) who also doubles on sax and flute with consumate ease. Their varied instrumentation allows them to explore musicial works not ordinarily associated with the term “cover band”.

The Morning Sea is thrilled to be helping to kick off Rockwood Music Hall's 15-year anniversary concert series, celebrating the venue's longstanding commitment to live music in NYC.  Rockwood Music Hall has been the beacon of emerging and established live music acts in NYC since 2005. Located at 196 Allen St. in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Rockwood has grown to 3 stages, and become one of the most respected names in the New York live music scene.

2nd - Singer Songwriter Showcase

Sing, write or love music? You’re invited to The Showcase, hosted by Long Island singer-songwriter Ronnie Gross Jr. On the first Sunday of every month, this event will offer singers and songwriters the opportunity to perform their creative works in front of peers and music fans, as well as showcase a new artist each month with an extended set. Bring your instruments and your friends. All ages are welcome. Come, listen, perform and network, or be serenaded and entertained! We hope to support one another as the music community that we are. Sign-up at 5pm. Music starts at 5:30pm. 2 song limit. 

The February event will shine a singer-songwriter spotlight at 7:30pm on Anne O'Rourke, who grew up on the North Fork and released her debut self-titled EP in December 2018. Come and support Anne along with all of Long Island's talented singers and musicians.

BASTARDS OF FINE ARTS is a new band with old roots. Formed in 2015 by songwriter veterans Matt Keating and Steve Mayone, the Bastards have amassed an impressive catalogue, debuting new songs on their popular New Song Forward Friday series. With Jason Mercer on Bass and Greg Wieczorek on Drums, the Bastards are soon to record their debut album, to be released early 2020.

From the Nashville Songwriters Association LI Branch: "Calling all Songwwriters!  Be sure to join the NSAI Long Island at Five Towns College (room 217) for our monthly meeting. Please come and we can share our ideas and songs with each other & get inspired! Songwriters (not only country writers) are invited to play a song they've written on CD, guitar (must bring your own) or piano, along with at least 10 lyric sheets. The group will give constructive critiques for you to consider so that you can improve your song. This will be a very fun meeting, please come and feel free to invite anyone you'd like!

6th - Swingin' Nights With Judy Carmichael and Friends

The featured artists for this event: 

Judy Carmichael is a Grammy nominated pianist/vocalist and the host of Swingin’ Nights With Judy Carmichael and Friends, where she features some of her favorite musicians and joins in on second piano and vocals. 

Dan Block is an award winning multiple instrumentalist, equally at home in jazz and classical music. His music has been featured on Broadway and in The Aviator, Revolutionary Road, The Good Shepherd and other movie soundtracks. He plays frequently with Wynton Marsales in the Lincoln Center Jazz Band, with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawk.

Conal Fowkes is a Grammy winning pianist, double-bassist, vocalist and arranger. He can be heard and/or seen in a number of Woody Allen movies and has toured with him throughout the world. He has appeared on multiple movie soundtracks, recorded extensively and continues to keep a busy touring schedule.

Sharing a love for acoustic music, improvisation and live performance, the Pluckers bring to the stage a lively take on beloved classics as well as deep cuts. The ensemble consists of Bluegrass instrumentation; acoustic guitars, upright bass, mandolin and banjo and some non-Bluegrass instrumentation; flute, harmonica and percussion. Harmony driven vocals and improvised jams derive their influence from multiple genres of music and result in a sound and a vibe unique to The Brother Pluckers.
