2019 Bollywood Movies: 10 Promising Films That You Should Watch Out For This Year

2018 was a treat. With movies like Raazi, Badhai Ho, Stree and finally Andhadhun, we witnessed a paradigm shift in the quintessential Bollywood movies for good.

2018 proved that all you need is a great story to make a Movie successful and not the stars. Now that the bar is set quite high, the Indian audience expects much more from Bollywood and it seems the industry is listening.

So mark your dates right now as Ourtitbits is here with a list of promising Bollywood movies of 2019 to watch out for:

  1. Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (Feb.1):

Well, nothing about the movie is usual. It came as a sweet surprise that the movie is actually about a homosexual couple who deals with their situation in a middle-class setting. Starring Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Rajkummar Rao, the trailer is super-endearing as it shows a completely fresh take on homosexual love.

  1. Sonchiriya (Feb. 8):

When Abhishek Chaubey, the director of Udta Punjab and Ishqiya, comes up with something, you cannot afford to not get excited. With a stellar star cast of actors like Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana, Sonchiriya revolves around Chambal dacoits and is set in the 1970s.

  1. Gully Boy (Feb. 14):

The toasts of Bollywood, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, (for some God-knows-why reason were never seen together) are coming together for this one for the very first time. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy is a tale of a 22-year-old kid from a ghetto in Bombay. The story will majorly focus on the life of a rapper, and the story is his journey from realizing his love for rap, to chasing his dream. The trailer, as well as music, is already super viral at the moment.

  1. Luka Chuppi (March 1):

This is a super-crazy love story of a boy and a girl who decide to get into a live-in relationship but ended up in a live-in saparivaar. The fact that the movie also stars “Stree” actor Aparshakti Khurrana, Pankaj Tripathi and Vinay Pathak make us more excited about the movie.

  1. Mere Pyare Prime Minister (March 8):

The only Asian film to be screened at the Rome Film Festival, Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra’s is a long-awaited by the movie enthusiasts. The film has been shot in real locations and revolves around four children living in a Mumbai slum, one of whom wants to build a toilet for his single mother and makes an appeal to the Prime Minister.

  1. Photograph (March 8):

Coming from Ritesh Batra, the director of Lunchbox, Photograph has Nawazuddin Siddique and Sanya Malhotra in the lead role. Not much is known about the movie yet other than that it is about a struggling street photographer who is under pressure by his grandmother to get married. And the movie also stars Farrukh Jaffar, “Court” actress Geetanjali Kulkarni, Vijay Raaz, and our favorite Jim Sarbh.

  1. Badla (March 8):

Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh is reuniting “Pink” lead cast Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in what seems to be the biggest crime suspense in a long time. The movie is said to be based on Oriol Paulo’s 2016 Spanish thriller The Invisible Guestabout a businessman who is accused of killing his lover. Keep your fingers crossed for this one!

  1. Mental Hai Kya (March 29):

Other than the crazy, wacky first look, everything else about Mental Hai Kya is still under wraps other than that it stars Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut and is penned by “Manmarziyaa” writer Kanika Dhillon.

  1. Mission Mangal (Aug. 15):

Touted as India’s first space film, Mission Mangal is based on true events of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launching the Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan), thereby, making it the least expensive mission to Mars. It will have Kriti Kulhari, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Sharman Joshi, and Nithya Menon along with Akshay Kumar.

  1. Made In China (Aug. 30):

Coming from the umbrella of Maddock Films, Made In China is about a middle class struggling Gujarati couple trying to achieve their business dreams.
