Ibarapa power outage- Muraina intervenes, donate cash for immediate repair of 33kva cable at Eruwa switch over point

Residents of Isale pembo area of Ibarapa central local government had showered praises and encomiums on Hon. Dr Muraina Ajibola Saubana, member representing Ibarapa central/north federal constituency at the house of Representatives Abuja. This followed the intervention of the federal lawmaker on restoring Electricity supply to the community, after almost a year of power outage.

Apart from isale pembo area, Ogboja and Oremeji areas of the constituency had been victims of cable vandals since the first quarter of 2022. After series of meetings, the residents reached out to the lawmaker through their community leaders, who promised them that Muraina would not allow them to pay for the repair because he was the one who initially facilitated the provision of the transformers.

Electricity generation, transmission, distribution and bulk purchasing companies were not well conceived. It was done with many loopholes being explored by governments at various levels as well as private company that purchased NEPA. The resultant of this is lack of funding and improper maintenance of electricity facilities the brunt of which is often borne by innocent masses with rural and semi-urban communities largely affected.
It is on record that Hon.Muraina, the current house of representative member representing the good people of Ibarapa Central/North Federal constituency, has been, for almost a decade, working assiduously towards getting permanent solution to the challenges of electricity transmission and distribution in Ibarapa region. He specifically facilitated the ongoing transmission substations in Lanlate, Igboora and Igangan some of which are in various stages of completion. When completed, the project is expected to be one of the generational legacies of the people’s servant-Hon (Dr). Muraina Ajibola Saubana.
Electricity within Ibarapa, particularly from Igboora to Igangan is worst compared to what is being enjoyed by Eruwa and Lanlate. This is mainly due to either constant breakdowns or stolen of electricity cables and insulators by unscrupulous individuals aggravated by the “I don’t care” attitude of both state and local governments as electricity maintenance or vigilance is never of their priority. Therefore, a simple maintenance/repair work can put the entire communities into darkness for months without being attended to. One of such unfortunate incidents is the damaged poles and cables along Eruwa-Igboora road which has completely cut-off electricity supply to Igboora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa and Igangan in the last few weeks. The attention of Hon Muraina was brought to this some days ago and he swiftly mobilised resources for the purchase of cables, poles, and professional handling of the repair works.

More so, one of the communities within Igboora that have borne the brunt of the lackadaisical attitude of the Local Government towards restoration of electricity is Isale Pembo community in Igboora. This community has been in darkness for a while due to damaged transformer. It was therefore a celebration galore for the good people of Pataoju area, iberekodo Igboora when Hon Muraina donated a new transformer for them while also taking care of the logistics including cables, insulators and installation costs costing over #600,000.
