Becoming PM only to remain a dream for Shehbaz, says the PTI leader
LAHORE: The opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mehmood-ur-Rashid has said that ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will get nothing from his anti-judiciary campaign.
He also accused Nawaz Sharif of utilising the state resources for his campaign against the judiciary.
“Nawaz Sharif, a disqualified person is holding rallies on the state’s expenses to tell the people why he was ousted. He is also attacking other state institutions including the army, but will get nothing from this practice,” he said while speaking to reporters at the Punjab Assembly Secretariat.
Mehmood also criticised Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and said that it will only remain a dream for him to become the prime minister.
“Shehbaz Sharif has drowned Punjab. If he becomes the prime minister, he will drown the whole country. It is Shehbaz’s dream to become the prime minister of Pakistan and there is no harm in wishing so,” he said.
The MP said that CM Shehbaz should first satisfy the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the courts in his corruption cases, 56 companies scandal and that he was not responsible for the killing of 14 innocent people in Model Town. It is then he should think of becoming the premier, added Mehmood.
Replying to a question, Mehmood said that crimes against children and women are at rise in Punjab and lawlessness is increasing with each passing day.
“The actor (Shehbaz) is deceiving the masses and dreaming to become the future prime minister. The masses have become sensible and will not be deceived again. He and his elder brother Nawaz will know this soon,” he said.
Mehmood advised the Sharif brothers to not deceive the masses anymore and return all the ‘looted’ money.
“The people of the country will not allow the Sharif brothers to run away with their money,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, PTI central leader and former provincial minister Abdul Aleem Khan has said that he himself would face the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on January 29 as he has nothing to hide from it. In a statement, he said that all of his assets including his offshore company have already been declared to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and all other relevant departments.
Aleem said that he would not opt for any delaying tactics and would answer all of NAB’s questions on January 29. He said that no department had any problem with his business, but after contesting the by-elections of NA 122, the PML-N started a revenge campaign against him. He said that he would continue to work with PTI Chairman Imran Khan and no pressure would be fruitful in this regard.
