Just like any other great football star, the Statue of former Chelsea midfielder and Ghanaian international, Michael Essien, has been erected on his home soil of Ghana. But it seems the structure looks frightful. Please you can see a clearer photo below.
The appalling sculpture of the Ghanaian star shows home in Chelsea's iconic blue which the club is known for was erected in Kumasi a few years ago, but the artist is not known.
But a sports journalist, Saddick Adams based in Ghana has tweeted a photo of the statue, informing Essien it was a "beautiful gift"
We have seen statues of great footballers like Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona and Pele, but Essien's recent statue has been described as the worst people have ever seen.
Presently, the Ghanaian superstar plays for Persib Bandung, an Indonesian club side. He made 256 appearances for Chelsea between 2005 and 3014, he also won 9 trophies, including 2 premier League titles with the Blues.
