Apple Clips has launched a new update that brings support for vertical videos, allows for easy sharing to social media platforms, and brings a refreshed interface, amidst other changes. Recording videos in multiple aspect ratios is a step towards easy creation of content for Instagram Stories, Snapchat, and several other social media platforms that use vertical video. Clips 3.0 also supports recording HDR videos with iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro’s rear facing cameras.
Apple, the tech giant, calls this the biggest update that Clips has seen so far. Highly requested features have been included in the update, which makes it easy for anyone to create multi-clip videos using his/her iPhone or iPad, without indulging in much editing. Susan Prescott, Vice President of Apple’s Apps Product Marketing, mentioned that the new update for Clips will help users create Clip Videos with more polish and personality.
With Clips 3.0, users can record videos in 9:16 vertical, 16:9 horizontal, 3:4 vertical and 4:3 horizontal sizes.. They can easily add content to the videos with the updated Effects and Media browsers, and the Apple Pencil helps to scribble in text for labels and posters. There are eight new stickers to add to the videos and 25 new soundtracks that automatically adjust with the length of the videos.
Filters, posters, selfie scenes and live titles have also been updated on the app to record the new sizes. There is a new share sheet, which let’s the users see a video preview before sending.
For Clips 3.0’s iPad interface, users can utilise the iPad display by creating landscapes. Clips also supports the new Scribble feature on iPadOS 14. Pair your iPad Magic Keyboard or a Bluetooth mouse or trackpad for an optimised experience of Clips.
