The shapes of ice scrapers
Most of the scrapers on the market sport a metal handle along with a single piece, wedge-like shape scraper on one of the ends and having a snow brush on the other side. The scraper is made out of plastic and has sets of teeth for cutting ice on its back which is flat. They have a thick rather a relatively dull sort of blade at its front end. The brush typically has bristles on one of the edges and foam or rubber squeegee on the other side.
However, the design details end up making all the difference between different scrapers, and no part of the scraper is unimportant. The blades have to be quite sharp along with being enormously sturdy – when you are in the process of scraping ice, you have to bear down really hard. The teeth that are going to be used for cutting the ice have to be prominent and tall, so that the contact with the windshield is done without you having to force your knuckles in doing so, and in an ideal world, they will be extending throughout the blade’s width, so that you can make cuts which are wide ribbons in shape.

And of course, the handles need to be very strong. The broom head needs to have three tools: a side to sweep ice shavings and loose snow; squeegee side so that it makes a tight seal with the panels of the body and windows to push snow off the vehicle and between these two, a plow kind of structure to make the movements of snow pushing more efficient.
