Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world. Its beauty, history, culture, sights and food entice millions of visitors each year, as they flock to the City of Lights and City of Love to Visit all the famous landmarks. Ask any Tourist and they’ll list the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre museum, Notre-Dame de Paris and the Arc de Triomphe as places to visit on their trip. While these sights are amazing to see and experience, they’re also crowded and expensive. So what’s a tourist to do in Paris? Visit a few of these non-touristy places to experience another side of Paris tourists rarely see!

1. Marche d’Aligre

Outdoor markets are amazing to experience in new cities and a great way to see the city as a local. The Bastille market is where every tourist tries to visit, making it super crowded, which is why you should head to the Marche d’Aligre instead! The outdoor market has it all, including fresh flowers, delicious foods and amazing restaurants to try out. Here you’ll see how real Parisians stock up on food!

2. Tour Montparnasse

Although it’s still listed in the guidebooks, not many tourists opt for the Tour Montparnasse. Instead, they go to the Eiffel Tower for amazing city views, but this skyscraper provides the same views without the long weights or crowds. The Ciel de Paris bar provides you 360-degree views of the City of Lights, giving you some memorable photos!

3. Chateau de Vincennes

Versailles is the place where most tourists visit, so skip the crowds and head east to Chateau de Vincennes instead! The castle isn’t as fancy as Versailles, but it still has a rich history that’s interesting, going back to the 12th century.

Feel more French by taking a stroll on the riverbanks at Bibliotheque or the National Library. When it’s warm out, Parisians usually take to the cafes and bars along the Quai Francois-Mauriac to feast on good food and be with good company.

5. Montparnasse Cemetery

Usually, the Catacombs and Pere Lachaise Cemetery get all the tourists, which is why you should instead head to the Montparnasse Cemetery that’s just as beautiful and is the final resting place to notable figures in French culture.
