Krishnakumar Kunnath, aka KK, is a renowned name in the music industry. He was born to Malyali parents based in Delhi, and spent his early singing jingles for advertisements before playback singing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Delhi University but chose to pursue a career in music. He began singing in Tamil movies and entered Bollywood with the famous “Tadap Tadap” from ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999) and later won a National Award for “Tu Aashiqui Hai” from ‘Jhankar Beats’ (2004). KK has sung several songs in Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali and Malayalam in his decades-old musical career.
Here’s a list of some of his most popular tracks from the recent times:
“Tu Bhoola Jise” From Airlift (2016)
“Tu Bhoola Jise” is a perfect tribute to our motherland, and this is easily one of the best songs by KK. The number speaks of the immense love that our motherland feels for us, which is equaled to that of a mother. The ‘vande mataram’ rendition at the ending of the song makes every Indian heart swell with pride.
“Tu Jo Mila” From Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
A very emotional song indeed rendered by KK, where Salman Khan as Pawan finally realizes that love knows no religion and rescues Munni from almost being sold. One can melt even the hardest heart with the song’s heart-touching lyrics.
“India Waale” From Happy New Year (2014)
A fun party song with a tinge of patriotism, this is a joint effort between KK, Shankar Mahadevan, Vishal and Neeti Mohan. The effort has been very successful indeed, as the song was on the charts for quite some time after the movie release.
“Piya Aaye Na” From Aashiqui 2 (2013)
Sung by Tulsi Kumar and KK, this speaks of heartbreak, pain and despair all at once. We actually start to feel the gradual disintegration of the relationship between the characters Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, as they keep waiting for each other till the end of the song.
“Dil Kyun Yeh Mera” From Kites (2010)
One of the most beautiful songs in this romantic-action movie, this number takes you to a wedding scene where the protagonists meet each other for the first time. One will find Hindi, Spanish and soft rock musical influences with a chorus rendition at the end. The amazing picturization shows the connection the characters feel towards each other at an instant, but are unable to voice it out loud.
The list does not quite end here, as KK has sung quite a lot of other melodious songs. If you haven’t listened to him in a while, now is the time to start downloading his songs one by one.
