There have been reports that Hrithik Roshan will be playing Lord Shiva in Karan Johar’s upcoming movie based on Amish Tripathi’s book, Immortals Of Meluha. It is also being said that Priyanka Chopra will play the role of Parvati! While some are even saying that it’s not Karan Johar but Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be directing the film.But there have been no official announcements or confirmations so we might have to wait for this take on Shiva. Immortals Of Meluha is the first in the Shiva trilogy and is followed by The Secret of the Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras. It chronicles the origins of Lord Shiva and how he came to rule over Meluha and marry Parvati.

However, there is another film based on the Shiva anthology which has already been made, starring Dulquer Salmaan and directed by Bejoy Nambiar. The film is titled Solo and is a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual. The film is an apt one for all the Shiva bhakts to watch on this Mahashivratri, here’s why:

Dulquer is seen in four different avatars of Lord Shiva; Shekhar, Trilok, Rudra, and Shiva. All the four characters represent Lord Shiva. The film is based on the song Shiv Taandav and the movie has two stories of love and two stories of rage.

Solo which released in 2016, tells the story of four different people, each story revolving around four different elements: Earth, Fire, Wind and Water, each with the different facets of Lord Shiva! It was shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Tamil.

The film deals with four different men from different walks of life; a college student named Shekhar, a doctor named Trilok, an army man named Rudra and a gangster named Siva. All four of them are completely different personalities but are connected by the elements of lost love.

Solo also stars Neha Sharma, Sruthi Hariharan, Arthi Venkatesh and Sai Dhansika. Sit back and enjoy Solo this Mahashivratri!
