We’ve often heard of our Hindi film music composers being inspired by international songs and music. But we bet you didn’t know that some of our own Bollywood numbers have gone on to feature in some well known Hollywood films too!

Chaiyaa Chaiyaa was made famous by Shahrukh Khan and Malaika Arora in Dil Se. It was the first time that a song sequence was shot on a moving train. The song is not only famous in Bollywood but has been used as part of the title credits and the end of the Hollywood flick, Inside Man.

Yaaro Yaarodi / Chhalka Chhalka Re, The Accidental Husband

Yaaro Yaarodi the Tamil song was made into Chhalka Chhalka Re in the Hindi Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee starrer Saathiya. Did you know that the song was featured in the Hollywood film, The Accidental Husband too?

Mera Joota Hai Japani, Deadpool

Every Indian has watched Raj Kapoor dance to Mera Joota Hai Japani but we bet you didn’t know that the song was used in Hollywood film, Deadpool. The song plays in the background in a taxi scene.

Urvasi Urvasi, Lion

In the Hollywood film Lion, Dev Patel strolls happily while he and his girlfriend play hide and seek on the street. It leads them to a scene where they meet some of Dev’s Indian friends for Indian food, the song has been cleverly used without sounding forced.

Chamma Chamma, Moulin Rouge

Though the Hindi film China Gate was a huge disaster, the song Chamma Chamma from the film made its way to one of the most successful Hollywood flicks, Moulin Rouge.

Our desi music has added the required tadka to these Hollywood flicks and we should be proud of it!
