You spend all or your most of your time with them at home, and when you’re not working, but what if you’re also spending almost all your working time with your partner?
Having your Spouse as your co-worker can be great if you are looking to spend more time together, especially in times where deadlines and office commute takes up almost all our waking hours. But sometimes, the boundaries of professional and personal life can mix together to create too much chaos and unnecessary tension in your personal equation.
To avoid any of that, and to make sure that both of you also continue to do your best at your work place, try the following:
Don’t teach or try to ‘help’ professionally, unless asked
You may want to help out your partner or teach them some rules of the game, and that is really a sweet and caring gesture. But the best way to do this is to wait for your partner to ask for help. Or, you could offer that you’re aware of this particular situation and know how to deal with it, and if required can assist. Don’t just assume it is fine and do it for them.
Be impartial and not biased towards your partner
You may be doing a few ‘coupley’ things at work, such as having your breaks together, or checking in on each other from time to time to say a quick hello, but other than that, don’t be partial or biased. Be fair, because any special treatment you share towards your spouse on the work front will only make other co-workers feel offended and may also lead to jealousy.

Keep professional and personal life separate
No matter what you are going through in your personal life, learn to keep it away from your professional life. If you had a fight last night, don’t bring it into the office and let work suffer. Also, whatever your equation at home, learn to respect position and experience in the workplace.
If done the right way, working with your spouse in the same work space can be a great way to spend more time, and also get honest insight and opinion from someone who really cares for you and knows you the best.
