Jampui Hills have a striking landscape that consists of orchid farms, tea plantations and an untouched greenery that will leave you enchanted. The tidy wooden houses of the locals, set against the backdrop of such an eco-friendly and picturesque scenery make it a great travel destination, apart from the fact that it is left untouched by frequent tourists.

From the watchtower at the highest peak Balinchhip, the Chittagong Hill Tracts, and other viewing points, great vistas of the Kanchanpur – Dasda valley and other hill ranges of Tripura and Mizoram unfold an enigmatic scenic panorama.

The slopes of the Jampui Hills are perfect for growing Orange plantations. Back in the 1960s, the locals grew oranges purely for self-consumption. But export of these oranges started rising across the country. This, in turn, helped in improving the economy of Jampui, which gradually encouraged people to clear more spaces of land for its production.

During the month of November, Jampui Hills host Tripura’s biggest festival, the Orange and Tourism Festival. Tripura produces some of the best quality oranges right here in Jampui, and to show gratitude for the produce, people started celebrating the Orange festival.

Since the Orange Festival is the biggest event occurring here, November is the best time to visit Jampui Hills. During the rainy season, clouds form at the foot of the hills.

You can reach Jampui hills from Agartala, which is 200 km away by road. Dharmanagar and Kumaraghat Railway Stations are the closest ones, located within 70 km from Jampui.
