In the Western part of the world, we always complain about three things – the weather, the time, and transport. In particular, the last one. But our Japanese friends don’t normally have to worry about transport, as they are renowned for being on time… exactly on time.
Except one day, on November 14th to be precise, the northbound Train left early, by 20 seconds. Instead of leaving Minami Nagareyama Station at 9.44am, it left at 9.43.40am! No one would have even blinked an eyelid, some may not have even noticed, but the Tsukuba Express management apologized anyway…
It reads, “On November 14, at approximately 9:44 a.m., a northbound Metropolitan Intercity Railway Company (main office in Tokyo, Chiyoda Ward, President & CEO Koichi Yugi) train left Minami Nagareyama Station roughly 20 seconds earlier than the time indicated on the timetable. We deeply apologize for the severe inconvenience imposed upon our customers”.
