Hakeem Kae-Kazim is a British-Nigerian actor . He became famous after his work in the Starz television series Black Sails and his portrayal of Georges Rutaganda in the 2004 drama film Hotel Rwanda.

The famous actor also had another popular role as Colonel Ike Dubaku in the Fox television series 24. He officially had his debut role in a movie in the 1989 film, Coming to America before he became one of the biggest black actors in the world.

Early Life and Background

Hakeem Kae-Kazim was born 1 October 1962 in Lagos, Nigeria. According to his official biography, he spent his early years in Nigeria before his family re-located to London, England. The hunk initially launched his acting career in his early days when he started taking minor roles in school plays and The National Youth Theatre, which is when he discovered that he had “a love for theatre, for acting”.

Resulting from his passion for acting, he undergone tanning at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, graduating in 1987 and was offered a space with The Royal Shakespeare Company, where he continued his classical training.

Film and Television Career

After his brief stint working with alongside Brian Cox and Ian McKellen for The Royal National Theatre, he decided to move his career further for a better future, this time he made successful transition into British television, appearing in The Bill, Trial & Retribution and multiple episodes of popular BBC series Grange Hill.

After this success, he decided to broaden his career by moving to a place untouched , he then moved to South Africa, where he became well known for film and television roles. His first role as Georges Rutaganda in the critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated film Hotel Rwanda, brought him massive attention and he become known all over the world not just in South Africa, he go international attention and exposure.

As a result of the massive success of Hotel Rwanda, Kae-Kazim re-located to Los Angeles, which brought a range of new opportunities his way. Kae-Kazim went on to appear in Slipstream alongside Sean Astin and The Front Line before starring in the hugely successful Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End as Captain Jocard. The hunk followed this subsequently graced a role in the blockbuster, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The handsome actor has featured in several block buster movies , hit television shows including Lost, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Criminal Minds. He was also featured in season 7 of the Fox television series 24 where he played Colonel Iké Dubaku and the television movie tie-in 24: Redemption. He continued to build up a following with roles in Gotham and Dominion, although his longest running role has been in the Michael Bay produced Starz series, Black Sails. Kae-Kazim also played Samson in part one of the 2016 miniseries remake Roots.

Kae-Kazim was cast in the recurring role of Cesil Colby on The CW reboot series Dynasty on November 2017. The handsome and well respected Hollywood actor is currently starring in the BBC fantasy series Troy: Fall of a City as Zeus, king of the Olympians.

Aside acting movies, Kae-Kazim also has involvement in other areas . He is an appointed global ambassador for Africa 2.0, in case you don’t know what this is all about, Africa 2.0 is a civil society organization providing a platform for emerging and established African leaders to drive forward the transformation of Africa.
