Aside acting, she is also involved in other aspect of entertainment, she is the CEO of Rok Studios, a film production studio in Nigeria. As a producer, she produced and acted in movies like Thy Will be Done, Husbands of Lagos; starred and directed Single Ladies and Festac Town. Early Life, Background and Education

Mary Remmy Njoku was born March 20, 1985 in Mile 2 Estate, Amuwo Odofin, Festac, Lagos State, Nigeria. She is the sixth child in a family of 8. The beautiful woman is originally from Nsukka, Enugu State. The lady who is currently 34 years old is considered as a very gifted, skillful, creative and talented actress. She is widely respected among her counterparts as a result of her ability to interpretation her role in a movie .

She did her high school education at Amuwo Odofin High School, National College Bagada and Navy Town Secondary School. She holds a diploma in Computer Science. the actress attended Lagos State University from 2010 where she obtained a degree in English Language. Two years alter, she attended London Film Academy in the UK where she did a course on Producing: Movie Magic Budgeting & Schedule . She has always had interest i acting right from when she was very young, she had passion for acting and she officially started acting on-stage when she was in Secondary school.

She made her final decision to take her career to the next level when she joined Nollywood industry in 2003 when she was only seventeen years old.

Career and Stardom

Mary Nnenna Njoku or Mary Remmy or Mary Remmy Njoku, whatever name you want to call her launched her acting debut in the 2004 Nollywood movie ‘Home Sickness’, which she starred along side Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha. She rose to stardom after appearing in popular 2011 Nollywood blockbuster ‘Blackberry Babes’ . Fast forward to 2011 and 2013, she got busy and successfully produced iROKtv, a YouTube platform that featured interviews with Nigerian celebrities, as well as coverage of Afrobeats and Nollywood events.

Fast forward to year 2015, she become the Chief Content Officer at IROKO Partners. She held her first world premier for her film Thy Will Be Done at the BFI IMAX London in March, the first ever Nollywood film premiere in IMAX. She produced the movie Nwanyioma in August 2018, she had to shave her head completely because the movie required her to shave it off.

Rok Studios and Spark

She founded Rok Studios in August 2013. The ROK Studios has produced movies and TV series like Festac Town, Single Ladies, Body language, Losing Control and Husbands of Lagos since it launch. She went ahead and launched Rok on Sky,a network airing across the UK in year 2016. To celebrate this achievement, some of her Nollywood colleagues attended the launch gala which took place at the Nigerian High Commission in the UK. She also launched Rok on DSTV, a network airing across Africa, in the same year.

Rok Studios launched two new channels, ROK 2 and ROK 3 in April 2018, this was necessitated in other to meet growing demand of Rok on DSTV. ROK 2 delivers content showcasing the origins of Nollywood, while ROK 3 showcases a variety of Ghanaian talent, and has a music channel feature in addition to the 24hr movie and series selection . Njoku, alongside her business partners Jason Njoku and Bastian Gotter, launched a $2 million investment vehicle for Lagos-based Internet start-ups called Spark.

Personal Life

Mary Njoku is currently married to the love of her life and the union is cemented with three children. She got married to British-born Nigerian entrepreneur, and African start-up investor, Jason Njoku on the 18th of August 2012 and the ceremony held in Festac, Lagos .

They welcomed their first fruit , a boy Jason Obinna Njoku, on 30 July 2013, the second child Nwakaego Annabelle Njoku, was born on 24 August 2015 while the last child of the family now Amber Nnenna Njoku on 4th August 2017. She is currently enjoying her marriage right now and we hope she doesn’t part ways with her husband just like many other Nollywood actress are doing.
