October teaser: Varun Dhawan’s Valentine’s Day gift is a thing of beauty. watch video

Varun Dhawan shared the first teaser of his upcoming film, October, directed by Shoojit Sircar and we are enraptured by its beauty.

October teaser landed on a sunny February morning and if there is one takeaway from the short video, it is not its star Varun Dhawan, its debut female actor Banita Sandhu or its talented director Shoojit Sircar but Avik Mkhopadhayay’s incredibly beautiful cinematography. The way light is captured as it peeps through trees, falls on faces and creates a mood will stay with you long after you have watched the teaser.

Once you have seen the play of light and shadows, you are caught by the melancholia of the moment. No dialogues are spoken and none needed. The film seems like a love story.

The short video shows Varun and Banita lost in thoughts, all alone. We also see some picturesque locations and a close-up shot of ‘parijat’ flowers, also known as night jasmine. Sharing the teaser, Varun tweeted, “A movie very close to my heart #October. Here’s the October feeler #ValentinesWithOctober @ShoojitSircar @BanitaSandhu @ronnielahiri http://bit.ly/WorldOfOctober .”

Speaking about the film, Shoojit had said earlier, “A very unusual, unconventional kind of a story in the slice-of-life and romance space.”

Much like his previous films Yahaan (2005), Madras Café (2013) and Pink (2016) that took inspirations from newspaper articles or real-life instances, Shoojit’s October too has the ‘real’ connect. “Yes, it’s inspired by many real-life incidents but the basic idea came from a small newspaper clipping that I had read. If you see, all my films’ ideas are like that,” the filmmaker added.
