“Experience is a hard teacher it gives the test first and the lesson afterwards”. Here we are going to meet such a person who has faced the hard lessons of experience with patience and perseverance. “you just can’t dare to fail when your aspirations are so high and it  means a lot to you”

She is a person who has failed once in the sixth standard and has never given a chance for failure again in life.

“Ever since I failed in Class 6, I am scared of Failure. It can be very depressing. But after that incident, I made up my mind that I won’t sulk and complain. I will work hard and give things my best.”

The fire in her made her crack the exam in the first attempt without any coaching classes.

We are going to meet Rukmani Riar who has always aspired to become an Ias Officer and serve the nation with the sense of humanity.  She has pursued two honours degree in social science and she’s also a gold medalist in post-graduation from Tata Institute of Social science as she has secured the first place right from the first year.

“I always wanted to serve the nation,” she says. Her willpower to taste success and her streamline path led her to success

Her passion for writing

Rukmani is a versatile person with intelligence, hard work and social responsibility. She is a prolific reader and a writer. Her natural affinity towards the society and her passion for reading made her a writer too. A work of art always reflects the shade of personality and insight thoughts of the writer. Her social concern and her passion for the fellow beings are greatly reflected in her poems.  Her two works “Struggle with Reality Women and her working condition “and “ Skewed Sex Ratio in India: A cause for the immediate concern” gives a true picturization of the society.

Aspiration to serve the society

She has always been a person with love and compassion. Her social responsibilities were also a part of her dreams. She has enthusiastically involved herself with the NGO’s operating in Karnataka and Maharashtra. Even before becoming an IAS officer she has served the society with her humanitarian approach of bringing up several problems of the nation into the limelight.

The path that led her to the stars

“ Victory belongs to the most persevering,” says Napoleon Bonaparte. This has been her mantra too! She was always optimistic and she had realistic goals and the courage to face the harsh battles of life.

” I believe that if one decides to persevere and come out of that phase, nothing can stop you achieving success,” Rukmani said in an interview.

She also says a powerful message for the aspiring candidates that consistency, hard work and persistence to be the key to success. She also encourages this generation youngsters with words of wisdom and experiences that “if I can do it, everybody else can and nothing can stop you”.

In most of the interview, she has said that she prefers self-studying and hence she has never joined in any coaching class for a meritorious result.

Expression of happiness from her parents

Rukmani Riar is the only daughter of Mr Baljinder Singh Riar, District Attorney of Hoshiarpur in Haryana. Her Takdeer Kaur is a homemaker.  Her success brought great bundles of joy and contentment to her family and relations. Her act of cracking civil service exam and bagging the second rank nationwide in the civil service exam was the most celebrated moment of her life.

“People from all over have been trying to reach me to congratulate me and my family. It’s a proud moment for all of us,” says Rukmani.

Her proud father says that “This hailing Punjabi girl has brought the award to her family. It was a combination of both her hard work and God’s blessing that she emerged successfully”.

Her mother says that she always believed in her daughter’s hard work and also says that her daughter was determined and working hard to clear the exam right from the beginning.

In an interview with IBM Live Media, Rukmani says “My hard work has paid off and I am very happy. I credit my parents, teachers, friends, and above all God for the success”.

Passion and perseverance

Some of the greatest lessons of our life are thought through failure, pain and hardships. “You can’t judge a man by the situation he is in, instead of judges him by the way he handles it.” Through her life, Rukmani has taught us the most important way of handling failure. Her single failure in her life has given her the determination to rise and never fall.

Our life to throws our opportunity to change and not to fail. It’s our way of acting smart and catching its grace to lead the path of success. Failure isn’t an end but a progress.

Nowadays people have become the instruments of this materialistic world and have forgotten to dream and fight to bring life to their dreams. Every year when board exam results are announced for tenth and twelfth many mishappening is also happening. Students who have come up with flying colours are happy and cherishing their moments. On the other hand, some students who have failed are depressed and they even dare to take decisions like committing suicide at such a tender age. This is an alarming issue in the past few decades. Of course, education is important but only depth knowledge and hard work can lead us to our victory path.

“Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about destination”

Rukmani’s life teaches us the way of handling failure in an optimistic way.

“No matter whatever the situation may be, never let your emotions overpower your intelligence”. This quote exactly stands for Rukmani, her persistence and hope.

A winner is just a loser who tried one more time.
