Just like we didn’t see “Rendezvous” coming in February, M.I is pulling up another big one. The rapper is going Kanye as three albums he produced will be dropping in August. Let’s just say winter is coming.
If there’s anything hip hop heads came into 2018 expecting, it was an album from M.I. Late 2017, M.I came alive and went for rappers, when he dropped his controversial “You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Life” single.
So when “Yung DenzL” became a subject, we all were waiting for him to drop the Template. We wanted him to show us what a hip hop album should look like. Then surprised us with “Rendezvous”. And now he’s giving us three more moves.
The delay on the “Yung DenzL” album was probably because M.I planned to drop it together with the two other albums. The first is “Crown”, a joint effort from Loose Kaynon and AQ. And the second is, the highly anticipated “Bad Boy Blaq” by Blaqbonez. We are still waiting for a PR move from Chocolate City concerning the signing of Blaqbonez.
The amazing thing about the release, is how we’re going to get these 3 albums within 2 weeks. Can you beat that?

According to his tweet, Kanye stole his idea. “Crown” will arrive August 17th, then “Yung DenzL” follows on the 24th, as “Bad Boy Blaq” caps it off on the 31st. He also said after the three albums, the hip hop conversation for 2018 will been closed. And that rappers who plan to drop their albums can start shifting the plans to 2019. Maybe Olamide won’t drop this year?
This is a big move from M.I Abaga, and probably the biggest since he became CEO of Chocolate City Music, which is one of the biggest labels in Africa, in 2015.
Meanwhile, at the beginning of the week, he dropped the video to his old track “Brother” which featured Nosa and Milli. He addressed the fall out, and called Brymo, Ice Prince his brothers.
Recall that M.I became popular, after dropping his debut “Talk About It” LP in 2008. Before then, he was just another rapper repping the city of Jos. With 4 studio albums and 3 mixtapes, “Yung DenzL” will become his 8th project in 10 years. Talk about consistency!
