Latest Currency Notes Of India And Its Evolution

In the last few years, a lot of Currency Notes in India have undergone a transformation in terms of designs and colours. Earlier versions of Indian notes bearing the denomination Rs 1000 and Rs 500 were demonetized in November 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Citizens were asked to deposit demonetised old notes of India and get them exchanged with other valid currency notes. This sudden move was aimed at curbing back money and other illegal activities. However, there have been reports that more than 99 percent of demonetised notes of India have been received by the Reserve Bank of India.

Post Demonetisation
After demonetisation, new currency notes of India of the denomination Rs 2000 were introduced. They featured the photograph of Aryabhatta satellite and are magenta red in colour. There were rumours that these new Indian notes had micro chips using which the government can identify the location of the note. These were however, fake claims that were spread by different media houses. New 500 Rs notes of India in olive green colour were also introduced later. These new currency notes in India featured a picture of the red fort on the reverse side.

New Notes with Revised Designs
Orange coloured 200 Rs Indian notes were also introduced last year. These notes of India featured the ancient historic site of Sanchi Stupa on the reverse side. Likewise, new purple coloured 100 rupees notes in India features the historic step-well of medieval India from Gujarat, Rani ki Vav. The latest 50 rupees currency notes of India are sky blue in colour and depict a picture of Hampi Chariot. The latest chocolate-brown coloured 10 rupees Indian notes feature a motif of Sun Temple, Konark on the reverse.

The history of Indian notes has always been fascinating to study. From rare notes of India of the British era featuring designs only on one side, to the old notes of India issued by Hyderabad state, there is a lot to explore.
