Sonam Kapoor’s Horror Experience Is a Psychological Horror Movie

Sonam Kapoor is one of the most popular actors in India. Her movies cater to urban and postmodern audiences. I look at her as a strong, sensible lady. So, when she reveals a real-life Horror experience, we stand up and take notice – because that’s exactly what she’s done.

A few hours ago, Sonam tweeted that she had an absolutely horrible experience with an Uber ride outside India. At first glance, I thought it was a millennial rant about the water not being cold enough. These are stars, at the end of the day, and sometimes what’s normal for us is a horror for them. However,  Sonam revealed that the driver apparently was not functioning on a full deck.  Initially, she posted:

Hey guys I’ve had the scariest experience with @Uber london. Please please be careful. The best and safest is just to use the local public transportation or cabs. I’m super shaken.

Later on, she posted what is one of the scariest experiences one can have anywhere, let alone the fact that she was traveling:

“The driver was unstable and was yelling and shouting. I was shaking by the end of it.”

I can’t stop thinking that Sonam Kapoor’s experience is literally the scenes that we see in those psychological horror movies. Uber needs to brace for a backlash and also pull up their socks and so something about it. To be the devil’s advocate, it’s possible that the driver was just having a bad day and didn’t take the sensible decision of not turning up for work. As far as I know, Uber drivers don’t ‘need’ to turn up for work. If they decide they want to take a day off, they can. But then again, there’s this scenario where someone else signs up on Uber and hires drivers to do the job – and then split the money. In that scenario, the boss can force the driver to turn up for work.

Uber consistently faces a backlash over how their drivers behave. Not to mention the fact that both Uber and Ola have a negative image in India because of things like surge prices.
