Quick Tip : About Quick Mask Mode in Photoshop

How to Soften Skin Tones with High Pass in Photoshop

Photoshop Quick Mask Mode is an amazing button at the bottom of the tool bar.

You can select any parts of image with an easier way to delete or enhance them by using Quick Mask in Photoshop.

How to use it! Take this mode by clicking the quick Mask button or hitting the Q on your keyboard.

Now choose Brush Tool or you can press Shift+B on your keyboard again and again until it comes, set your brush size and hardness 90% or at your convenience, If you choose a brush 100% hardness then It'll have a sharp edge. On the other side, 0% hardness you'll see it "Fade Out" as it goes on. Finally set foreground color black, because with brush tool, it allows the mask to an area. If you set foreground color white, then you are going to erase the mask from an area. So, you need to set foreground color black and start painting away like below...

If you want to edit this mask, then you can do it by brush, painting or any selecting tools.  See below, I've edited or deleted the mask red circle identified during Quick Mask Mode. Here I used to take Eraser Tool and see my foreground color is black

You can also edit or add mask by Eraser Tool, just need to set foreground color white, when you want to add mask by eraser tool. See below. Here, I've edited or add mask white line identified during Quick Mask Mode.

Finally when you are finished your mask, then returned to the normal mode to click on the Quick Mask Button again or press Q on your keyboard.

What are you going to see above! a selection marquee, that means appeared a moving dotted line, huh! Here, the area selected is all of the picture that you didn't mask and you don't want to remove it. So, you need to inverse the section area. How! Go to Select > Inverse or press Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+I

Finally delete it for using another color or background.

Note : As a photo editor, I know that, how much essential Quick Mask Mode is! Most of the editors used to take this mode to check their selection during clipping path via Pen Tool or others to get perfect result

You can change Quick Mask Mode Color red to different. Click twice on the quick mask mode button, it'll show up a pop-up box called "Quick Mask Options"

Now change it's color and see the result below.

Conclusion :
