President Ram Nath Kovind has recently awarded megastar Amitabh Bachchan with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in Delhi.
Amitabh Bachchan the most legendary 77-year-old actor of the Hindi Film Industry is honored with the Award for his outstanding contribution to the film industry.Ram Nath Kovind the president of India presented the award to the actor. The 66th National Awards were held in Delhi on December 23 this year. In which Amitabh Bachchan was not present due to his illness at the time, of the ceremony. But it was announced that he will be presented the award on 29th December, President Ram Nath Kovind invited all the National Award winners of this year to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Kovind hosted a high-tea for all the winners at his residence on Sunday.
The much-deserved accolade Amitabh Bachan on receiving the award said “It is by the grace of God, the blessings of my parents, support of colleagues from the industry and the love of the people of India that I am able to stand in front of you. It’s been 50 years since the establishment of Dadasaheb Phalke Award and it is the time for which I have been working in the industry. I am grateful for this opportunity and accept this award with gratitude.” Amitabh Bachchan was accompanied by his wife Jaya Bachchan and son Abhishek Bachchan on this special event who was seen at the ceremony seated up in front. Amitabh has also been the recipient of four National Film Awards for Agneepath, Black, Paa, and Piku, followed by a Padma Shri in 1984, a Padma Bhushan in 2001 and a Padma Vibhushan in 2015 and now Amitabh Bachchan has won the heart of millions since five decades of his career with memorable performances.
The announcement that Amitabh was to be given the award, was made back on September 24, 2019, by India’s I & B Minister Prakash Javadekar. The award is named after the father of Indian cinema, Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, The award consists of a Swarn Kamal and a cash prize of ten lakh rupees.
