He was born as Asumal Sirumalani on 17 April 1941, in the Berani village of the Nawabshah District in British India ( now Sindh, Pakistan), to Menhgiba and Thaumal Sirumalani. After partition, his family migrated to Gujarat, India. Asumal was seven years old and the family lived in acute poverty. His father worked in different cities of Gujarat before the family came to Ajmer in 1963.
The very young Asumal here started ferrying Ajmer Sharif dargah pilgrims on a tanga to support his family. He carted pilgrims on his pony cart from the railway station to the dargah. That time nobody ever thought of it that this ordinary person will become a godman with lakhs of followers.
