Hello LDV readers. Remember last month’s post on being ready to turn the page? Well, that day is now closer than ever! It’s Karima from A Note on Style with thoughts on how I’ll want to dress post-quarantine. Spending the majority of spring in relaxed, casual clothing appropriate for lounging around the house, I had a hard time imagining ever wanting to wear anything with structure again. But now that we’re able to venture out, the opposite is true.

I miss the pieces that make me feel pulled together and add polish to an outfit. Sneakers will be taking a break while I slip on the white Celine loafers I bought in March that have yet to be worn. Ditto for a pair of Chanel sandals that took me Forever to track down. The day before our local retail stores closed, my local Neiman’s got a pair in my size which I snapped up immediately. An Acne Studios blazer I picked up on sale hangs pristinely in my closet with tags still on.

I thought about these unworn pieces while self-isolating wondering when I’d get a chance to wear them. The answer is forever. They solidify my position on buying quality, classic items that are here for the long haul. Building a wardrobe with this frame of mind takes away the temptation to purchase of-the-moment items. I’ll occasionally sprinkle in a piece that defines the season’s trend, but not with a hefty price tag attached.

So, what will I be wearing next? Jeans will continue to be in rotation but freshly elevated paired with shoes and bags I wouldn’t have considered donning the last few months. That Acne Studios canvas blazer is seasonless and will sharpen up numerous outfits with ease. With the carefully curated closet I’ve spent years creating and will continue to build, I think I’ll be good to go for a long time.
