Autoimmune Disease Awareness

Yes, I know I have gone off at a tangent again but I feel like a damn good rant, as I am feeling like crap today.

I started writing The Scleroderma Files shortly after I was diagnosed a couple of years ago.  I have now largely moved them to another one of my soapbox pages where the rant goes on.

OK, I have had Psoriosis since I was a  child; I was diagnosed (eventually) with colitis collagenous 20 odd years ago and have had arthritis for about 10 years.

These auto immunes just love to party.  The more the merrier.

“Yay! We’ve infiltrated another immune system!  Let’s go and shred it to bits!”

It is how the little sods infiltrate your system in the first place that’s gets me.  Once they have, they are a pain in the arse and everywhere else.

This is not a poor old me rant OK?! Because I am just one among millions of resilient working people who soldier on every single day often feeling like shit with any one or more of these debilitating auto immune diseases.  And, there are at least 80 of the little ****ers.

There I feel better for getting thing of my chest … and if any auto immune sufferer out there would like to rant to me on the subject … I make a bloody good ear.

Autoimmune diseases, specifically, now affect 24 million people and include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, thyroid disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and more. These are often addressed by powerful immune suppressing medication and not by addressing the cause. That’s like taking a lot of aspirin while you are standing on a tack. The treatment is not more aspirin or a strong immune suppressant, but removing the tack. Mark Hyman MD
